in gearing up for the 2021-22 Boston College men's ice hockey season, I was tasked with creating the logo for use on jersey patches, helmet decals, and merchandise, commemorating the one hundredth season of Boston College hockey.
the secondary mark - consisting of "BC" merged with a "100" and a hockey stick going through- is meant to be a simple and elegant mark for use where the primary mark would lack the detail it portrays.
the primary mark incorporates the merged "bc" with "100" yet includes other aspects of Boston College. the block-style font used for text on the outer circle of the mark, combined with the official Boston College throwback logo, emphasizes the tradition held in Boston College hockey. the silhouette of Gasson hall - the most prominent building on the Boston College campus - runs through the middle of the mark, housing five stars that are symbolic of the five national championships won by Boston College.
